Solartek Case Study

Starbucks

Location:Queensway/Bayswater - Central London

Value:£2500.00

Duration of contract:2 nights

Description of contract:

With its prime Central London location and with the ever increasing threat of terrorism in busy inner city areas Starbucks contacted Solartek Films to advise them on how best to protect its staff and customers from flying glass should an attack occur near by.

Having visited the site and spoken to staff members, we also found that they had a problem with the heat and glare that came through the floor to ceiling glass. Subsequently we applied a combined bomb blast/medium neutral solar film in order to hold the glass together in the event of an attack, as well as reducing the solar gain and glare coming through the glass making the coffee shop a safer and more comfortable place to be.

In order to cause minimum disruption to Starbucks trade, the works were undertaken through the night meaning no loss of business at all.

Regular customers have commented on how much more comfortable it is sitting having a coffee now the suns heat is not on them and the glare is reduced whilst reading their papers/books.

We did not tell them the main reason we had Solartek Film applied was to protect them from a blast.

Manageress, Starbucks. July 2006
